Make Friends Online Through Conversations That Continue
A first greeting is only a beginning. If you want to make friends online, the next conversation matters too: remembering what someone said, finding something you both enjoy and choosing to talk again without making it an obligation.
WAB2 gives adults a place to find member profiles, exchange direct text messages and return to familiar contacts. Create a free account to use search and core messaging. No mutual like is required, although contact settings and anti-spam limits can restrict new messages. Replies and friendships are never guaranteed.
Create a Free Account and Start Building a Connection
You can keep an online friendship online. There is no requirement to exchange phone numbers or arrange a meeting. If you are still comparing formats, see friendship services for adults.

Write a Profile That Gives Friendship a Starting Point
“Looking for friends” says what you want, but not what you might enjoy together. Add two or three specific interests and the kind of exchange you welcome. For example: “I enjoy mystery books and trying simple recipes. Here for friendly conversation and swapping recommendations.”
You can say that you prefer platonic friendship. Leave out your exact workplace, home address and daily schedule; an approachable introduction does not need identifying details.
After signing in, search for a communication language you share and read introductions. The For Chatting purpose can help narrow the search, but it is not a friendship-only guarantee. Members may have different intentions. The new-people guide explains the discovery filters in more detail.
Notice Whether You Both Want to Continue
An opening question starts an exchange; friendship needs room for both people. Do they ask something about you too? Can either person change the subject or take a break? Do you enjoy returning to the conversation, rather than feeling required to prove your interest?
You do not need to share every hobby. A familiar point of interest is enough to begin, and differences can give you more to discuss. Avoid deciding that a warm first reply means instant closeness or that a delayed reply means rejection. Activity status records a visit, not readiness to answer.
Create Your Profile and Look for Shared Interests
Make the Next Conversation Easier
Return to something the person chose to share instead of starting from zero each time:
- If they recommended a book, say what you thought of the opening chapter and ask about their favourite part without spoiling it.
- If you discussed a hobby project, ask how it is going and share a little progress on your own.
- If you both enjoyed a topic, suggest returning to it: “I'd like to hear how that recipe turns out, if you feel like chatting again.”
Keep the invitation optional. There is no required messaging schedule, and you do not have to explain every pause. Work, family, time zones and personal preferences can make two people available at different times.
Use Contacts to Find a Familiar Profile Again
You can add a member to Contacts so their profile is easier to find later. Contacts is your saved list, not a mutual friendship request, a verified-trust badge or a promise that the other person will keep in touch. Adding someone does not make them add you back.
Continue in your existing conversation when both of you want to. If someone stops replying or changes their contact settings, respect that choice rather than trying other routes to reach them.
Let Trust Grow Without Giving Up Your Boundaries
A familiar name is still not proof of identity. Keep passwords, account codes, identity documents and financial details private. Never send money or gift cards to an online contact, including someone you have been talking to for a while.
You can decline a personal question, keep the conversation on WAB2 or end contact. Use Ignore or Report if someone pressures or harasses you. The chat safety guide explains those precautions; chat without dating pressure covers stating a platonic purpose.
A new friendship may grow gradually, stay occasional or remain a pleasant exchange. Start with a shared interest and give both people the choice to return. For other ways to use the site, visit the WAB2 chat guide.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is making friends on WAB2 free?
Creating an account, using basic member search, exchanging core text messages and saving Contacts do not require Premium. Optional paid features are separate, and contact settings and anti-spam limits still apply.
Does adding someone to Contacts make us friends?
No. Contacts is your own saved list of profiles, not a mutual friendship request. Friendship and continued contact depend on both people choosing to participate.
Can I look for friendship rather than dating?
Yes. Explain that you want platonic friendship in your introduction and read other members' profiles. The For Chatting purpose can help narrow search, but members have different goals and not every exchange will suit you.
Can I keep an online friendship on the site?
Yes. You can continue text conversations on WAB2 without exchanging a phone number, moving to another service or meeting offline. Neither person owes the other constant availability or a particular response time.
