Chat for Conversation

Chat Without Making Dating Your Goal

You can want a conversation without looking for a partner: exchanging opinions, talking about a hobby or getting to know somebody as a friend. Make that purpose clear rather than treating every friendly reply as a step towards a date.

On WAB2, adults choose member profiles and send direct text messages without swiping or waiting for a mutual like. You need a free account for search and core messaging. Contact settings and anti-spam limits apply, and each person chooses whether to answer.

Create a Free Account for Conversation

WAB2 is not a strictly non-dating community. Members can have different intentions, including meeting up. A purpose field or a friendly introduction does not verify that someone wants platonic contact.

Conversation first—not romance-free

WAB2 does not require swiping or matching, but members may have different goals. Read each profile and state clearly when you want platonic conversation.

Put Your Intention Into Words

A short sentence is enough: “Here for friendly conversation about books and everyday life, not dating.” Add an interest so people know what you would enjoy discussing. You do not need to share your relationship status or justify your preference.

After signing in, use For Chatting under Purpose in the Search filter if conversation is your aim. For Meeting Up is a separate option. Read the person's introduction too: these settings are clues, not a friendship-only filter or consent to personal attention.

Choose another profile if its purpose does not fit, rather than trying to change its owner. For broader format choices, see friendship options for adults.

Make the Conversation About a Shared Interest

An opening about what someone enjoys gives your message context. “You mentioned restoring old radios. What was your first project?” invites a discussion without evaluating the person as a potential partner.

Offer your own experience and let either person skip a topic. Warmth, humour and regular conversation do not create an obligation to flirt, send photographs or become exclusive.

The social-chat guide compares casual, personal and group conversation. If you hope to keep talking over time, making friends online covers a continuing connection.

Keep an Online Connection Online if You Want

You do not need to exchange numbers, use a camera or meet offline. “I'm happy to keep chatting here” explains your choice. The other person can decline, but you do not owe access to your private life.

“No, I'm not looking for that” is enough. You can explain a boundary once if you choose, without continuing to defend it or offering another form of intimacy instead.

If Expectations Change, Check Rather Than Assume

Either person can change what they want. Ask rather than treating earlier messages as an agreement: consent to conversation is not consent to romantic or sexual messages, photographs, exclusivity or a meeting.

If your purposes no longer fit, neither person has to continue a friendship or accept a date to reward attention already given.

Stop Contact When a Boundary Is Not Respected

Use Add to ignore on a profile if you want direct contact to stop. While the rule applies, neither account can message the other. Ignore does not erase earlier messages or control another person's posts in a shared room.

Report becomes available after your account is 14 full days old. If it is unavailable, use Contact WAB2 about an abuse concern. You do not need to continue a pressuring exchange while waiting for a response.

Keep passwords, account codes, identity documents and financial information private, and never send money to someone you only know through chat. The safer chat checklist explains those precautions. The chat guide can help you choose another format.

Start with a shared subject and leave both people room to say no.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is WAB2 a strictly non-dating community?

No. Members have different goals, including chatting and meeting up. There is no swipe or mutual-like requirement, but the For Chatting purpose is not a guarantee of platonic intentions.

How do I say that I want platonic chat?

State it in your introduction, such as “Here for friendly conversation, not dating,” and add an interest you enjoy discussing. Read other profiles and respect a different purpose rather than trying to change it.

Do I need a mutual match or Premium to send a message?

No mutual like or Premium purchase is required for core text messaging. You do need a free account, and contact settings and anti-spam limits can prevent a message. A reply is not guaranteed.

What if someone keeps pushing for a date?

You can decline, stop replying and use Add to ignore to stop direct contact. Report is available after 14 full days of account age; use Contact WAB2 for an abuse concern if it is unavailable. You do not owe a meeting or further discussion.
