Chat for Conversation

Chat With Strangers More Safely

Looking for a safe website to talk to strangers starts with a practical question: what can you control before and after a conversation begins? No profile, activity label or platform can guarantee another person's identity or behaviour. You can still choose what to share, limit new messages and stop an exchange you do not want.

WAB2 requires a free account for member search and direct messaging. Basic contact controls do not require Premium, but they have different purposes and limits. In particular, profile Report is available after an account is 14 full days old; newer members can use Contact for an abuse concern.

Keep Your Introduction Separate From Identifying Details

Share an interest, not the details that locate you or unlock an account. Leave your home address, exact workplace, daily schedule, identity documents and financial information out of introductions and unfamiliar conversations. You can decline a question without explaining why.

On WAB2, both Name and Nickname can appear in your profile. Choose non-identifying labels in both fields if you do not want to publish your full name. Your email address is not displayed to other members, although its verification status is. The nickname and anonymity guide explains what this does and does not hide.

Do not send a contact your password, sign-in code or password-reset code to “prove you are real.” Account codes are different from a room invitation key that you deliberately share with intended participants. The FTC's explanation of verification-code scams describes why requests for account codes are a warning sign.

Pause When a Conversation Becomes a Payment Request

A familiar name or weeks of friendly messages do not establish that a payment request is genuine. Stop if somebody asks for gift cards, cryptocurrency, travel costs or an investment, especially if they add urgency or secrecy. Never send money to someone you only know through chat.

If you have already paid, contact your bank or payment provider promptly through its known official app, website or contact details. Explain what happened; recovery is not guaranteed. The FTC's official romance-scam guidance covers relationship-based payment requests and steps after a payment.

Treat Links, Photos and Files as Separate Decisions

Do not open an unexpected link or attachment just because the sender's name looks familiar. If a message claims there is an account problem, open the service yourself rather than signing in through the supplied link. Official GOV.UK phishing guidance also advises against sharing private information or opening attachments when a message's authenticity is uncertain.

In WAB2 private chats, both participants must enable Allow files in private chats before a file can be sent. Permission to send is not a check that the content is trustworthy. Decline an unfamiliar download rather than changing your settings to satisfy another person's pressure.

Photos under code restrict ordinary viewing, but a person who sees an image can still capture it with another device. A code, a one-time view or later deletion cannot recall a copy already saved. Do not share an image because somebody promises it will remain secret.

Use the Control That Matches the Problem

Keep relevant details if you can do so without continuing an abusive exchange. Do not argue, pay or provoke more messages to gather evidence. Group owners manage room access separately from personal Ignore settings; the private-chat guide explains direct-message boundaries.

You Can Stop Without Moving the Conversation Elsewhere

You do not owe another person a phone number, photographs, an offline meeting or a reason for leaving. Read the meeting precautions in WAB2's chat safety guide before deciding to meet. If there is immediate danger, contact the emergency service where you are; WAB2 support is not emergency response.

For ordinary conversation, choose a format and pace you are comfortable with. The chat guide explains the available options without making risk-free promises.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can any website guarantee that a stranger is safe?

No. Profiles and activity labels are not proof of identity or intentions. Limit what you share, use the available contact controls and stop if an exchange becomes pressuring or unwanted.

Can I use Report as soon as I register?

No. Profile Report requires an account that is at least 14 full days old. If Report is unavailable, use Contact WAB2 for an abuse concern. You do not need to wait to stop replying or use Add to ignore.

Does Ignore delete my conversation?

No. Ignore blocks direct messages between the two accounts while the rule applies; it does not erase the existing history. It is also separate from access controls for a shared room.

Can a photo under code still be copied?

Yes. A person who can view it may capture it with another device. A viewing code or later deletion cannot retrieve copies already saved, so share only what you are comfortable letting another person see.
