Create and Manage a Group Chat Online
A book group, a hobby circle or a few friends can use one shared conversation instead of repeating the same message separately. On WAB2, adults create named rooms and invite other members with a six-digit room key. There is no public directory of open groups to browse.
Creating a room and joining with a valid key do not require Premium. Each participant needs an active account; ordinary account and messaging limits still apply. A room gives your group a place to write, not a promise that anyone will be present or reply immediately.

Set Up a Room With a Clear Purpose
- Sign in and open Rooms, then Create a room.
- Enter a Room name of up to 80 characters. Choose something your group will recognize, without publishing private details in the name.
- Open Manage room to find the generated six-digit Room key.
- Share the key privately with the people you want to invite. They sign in, choose Enter a room and submit it.
The room's address alone does not grant membership. Treat the key as access information: another person can forward it, and there is no individual approval step for each new entrant. If a key fails, ask the person who invited you to check it rather than guessing more codes.
Give the First Message a Job
Explain what the room is for, what people can post and whether replies can wait. For example: “Weekend reading group: share one book you enjoyed and why. Please label spoilers. Drop in whenever you have time.” A clear opening is more useful than an empty room with a vague name.
Group replies are visible to the room's members. Mention the topic or person you are answering so a later reader can follow the discussion. For a message intended only for one person, use one-to-one text chat rather than posting it to the group.
Know What New Members Can Read
The room displays available messages from the last 30 days, including messages posted before a new member joined. Inviting someone does not start a separate history for them. Let the group know before widening access, and avoid posting anything that depends on only the original members seeing it.
A key controls entry; it does not prevent a participant from copying a message or downloading a file. Keep passwords, identity documents, financial details and other people's private information out of the discussion. The privacy policy explains how WAB2 handles account and service data.

Keep Shared Files Under Control
Use Write a message to post text or attach a supported file. File sharing must be enabled in Protection, and upload limits depend on the account's features. Creating a room is free; optional Premium benefits such as larger file limits are separate.
The room's Files section brings shared attachments together. Members with access can delete their own uploads; the owner can delete any file in that room. Deletion does not erase a copy somebody already saved. Only share files you have permission to distribute, and do not open an unexpected attachment just because it came from a familiar room.
Manage Access Without Confusing the Controls
- Leave room: a participant who is not the owner can leave a conversation they no longer want to follow.
- Block or Unblock: the owner can restrict or restore a member's access to that room. This is different from personal Ignore settings for direct contact.
- Change room key: the owner gets a new key and all other memberships are removed. People you want back need the new key. Existing messages are not deleted.
- Delete room: the owner can confirm deletion of the room and its messages. This does not recall material that another participant already copied.
Renaming a room changes its label, not who can read it. Choose the control that matches the situation, and use Report for inappropriate behaviour rather than relying on a new name or a private agreement. The chat safety guide explains reporting and precautions.
If you are still deciding between groups and direct messages, see the overview of WAB2 chat rooms. For other conversation formats, return to the chat guide.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I start a group chat on WAB2?
Create a free account, sign in and choose Create a room in Rooms. Give the room a name, then open Manage room to find the six-digit key to share with invited members. Premium is not required.
Can someone join just by opening the room's address?
No. A new participant needs an active account and the room's current six-digit key. After joining, they can return through their Rooms list. There is no public directory of open rooms.
What happens when the owner changes the room key?
All other room memberships are removed and the old key stops working. The owner remains, and intended participants need the new key to join again. Changing the key does not delete the existing messages or undo copies already saved.
Can a new member see earlier group messages?
Yes. The room shows available messages from the last 30 days, including those written before that member joined. Share the invitation key carefully and keep sensitive information out of the group history.
