Find Someone to Talk to When You Feel Lonely
A quiet evening can feel especially long when you have nobody nearby to tell about your day. You might have moved, started working from home or simply found yourself out of step with your usual circle. Wanting a little company does not mean you need an impressive story to share.
WAB2 is a place for adults to look for everyday text conversation with other members. Create a free account, find a profile with a shared interest and decide whom you would like to message. Basic search and text messaging do not require Premium.
Create a Free Account and Look for a Conversation
This is social chat, not therapy, crisis care or a staffed listening service. Members may answer later or not at all, and conversation is not a promise of relief. If you need urgent support, use the separate resources below rather than waiting for a chat reply.

You Can Ask for Company Without Explaining Everything
You decide how much to share. It is fine to say, “I'm having a quiet evening and would enjoy a chat about films.” It is also fine to start with the film and leave your feelings out of the conversation entirely.
Another member is not an assigned companion. Look for a detail you genuinely want to ask about, and make the invitation easy to accept or decline. “What have you been watching lately?” asks for a conversation; you do not have to tell your whole story before saying hello.
If you are simply looking for an everyday exchange without this situation in mind, see talk to someone online.
A Small Way to Begin on WAB2
- Describe the conversation you want. Put an interest and a simple purpose in your introduction, such as “Here for friendly conversation about cooking and music.” Avoid publishing your address, work schedule or other identifying details.
- Search after signing in. Choose a communication language and read profiles for something in common. Country and age filters can help narrow the available results, but they do not guarantee a suitable or available person.
- Send one considerate invitation. Use the shared interest, offer a little about yourself and allow time for a reply. Contact settings and anti-spam limits can prevent a new message.
You can leave the conversation and return later. An unanswered message does not tell you why somebody was unable or unwilling to respond, and you do not have to keep checking for a reply.
Company Does Not Have to Mean Dating
You can say that you want platonic conversation. Search includes a “For Chatting” purpose, but read introductions too: members have different intentions, and a filter is not a guarantee that everyone wants the same kind of connection.
There is no obligation to flirt, move to another service, send photographs or agree to meet. If an exchange is not what you want, you can say so or stop. See chat, not dating for more on stating that boundary.
If You Would Like to Talk Again
When an exchange feels comfortable, ask whether the person would like to continue another day. You can add their profile to Contacts so it is easier to find again. That is your saved list, not a mutual friendship request or a promise that they will return.
Agreeing on an ordinary topic for next time can be enough: the recipe you tried, a match you watched or the next chapter of a book. There is no need to turn one pleasant exchange into constant availability. The guide to making friends online covers building a continuing connection.
Keep Company Separate From Pressure
You do not owe an online contact money, private documents or access to your accounts. You can decline requests for more personal information or stop a conversation without explaining yourself. Use Ignore or Report if contact becomes threatening or unwanted; the chat safety guide explains these precautions.
For urgent help, do not rely on another member being online. The “Urgent and crisis contacts” section near the top of this page links to official services separately from registration. Other members are not acting as counsellors or emergency responders on WAB2.
For ordinary company, you can begin with one small invitation and let both people choose the pace. A chat can remain a brief exchange, or you may choose to talk again.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will someone definitely reply to me?
No. Members decide whether and when to answer. Activity labels describe recorded visits, not readiness to talk, and some people restrict new contacts. WAB2 does not guarantee company at a particular time.
Do I have to tell someone that I feel lonely?
No. You can talk about a shared interest without explaining your personal situation. Choose what you are comfortable sharing and do not publish sensitive personal details in your profile or messages to unfamiliar people.
Can I look for platonic company rather than dating?
Yes. Say that you want friendly conversation and read the other person's introduction. The “For Chatting” purpose can help narrow search, but members have different goals and you can end an exchange that does not suit you.
Is this professional support or everyday social chat?
WAB2 is everyday social chat, not therapy, a crisis line or a service with assigned listeners. If you need urgent support, do not wait for a member's reply; use the separate urgent-contact resources linked near the top of this page.
