Choose a Connection You Can Make Room For
Think about the exchange you would enjoy returning to. Is it an occasional conversation about a hobby, a regular catch-up or someone to swap recommendations with? You do not need to promise daily messages to show an interest in friendship.
Describe that preference rather than publishing your timetable. “I enjoy restoring old furniture and chatting when I have a quiet weekend” gives someone a topic. Your exact working hours, address and daily route do not belong in an introduction.

Use Age as Context, Not a Compatibility Test
After signing in, open Search, then Filter. Under Age (years), choose from 40 if you want people aged 40 and over, or set to 49 if you specifically want people in their forties. You can choose another range; WAB2 is not a 40-plus-only community.
Ages use the birthdays members provide and are not verified. Add a communication language you share, then read introductions for interests and expectations. Someone of a similar age can still have a very different routine or goal.

Turn a Shared Interest Into Another Conversation
Begin with something the person mentioned, then give the exchange a reason to continue without demanding it:
- If they are returning to a hobby, ask what they are enjoying about it now and share a small update from your own attempt.
- If you swap a recommendation, try it before asking for a long list of more suggestions. Return with what interested you.
- If you both enjoy the conversation, ask, “Would you like to pick this up another day?” rather than assuming a daily commitment.

Make Returning Easy Without Making It a Duty
You can save a profile in Contacts to find it again. This is your own list, not a mutual friendship request or a promise that the other person will return. Continue only while the contact works for both of you.
A short reply next weekend may fit better than an uninterrupted evening. You can say that you enjoy an exchange and will answer when you can, without explaining every pause. An activity label records a visit, not readiness to talk at that moment.
An online friendship can stay online. Neither person owes a phone number, a call or an offline meeting, and a connection does not have to become intense to be worth continuing.
Keep Your Boundaries as the Conversation Becomes Familiar
Keep passwords, account codes, identity documents and financial information private. Never send money to someone you only know through chat. Familiarity with a profile is not proof of identity or a reason to accept pressure.
Use Add to ignore on the person's profile if direct contact is unwanted. It stops messages in both directions, but does not erase earlier messages or manage access to a shared room.
